Exilhauser Architects, a German company, created the Zusatzraum (Additional Space) in 2001. The Zusatzraum is a simple, portable unit that can be installed outdoors or inside existing buildings. The building is approximately twelve feet long, six feet wide and ten feet high and is made up of three rooms, including a small loft. The Zusatzraum was deisnged for living, sleeping and working and has also been used as an artist’s studio, exhibition venue and information booth.
